EL KING is a semi-truck and is a powerful vehicle that can be unlocked near the end of both Need For Madness games. Due to its low speed and even lower acceleration, EL KING is quite unsuited for racing.  However, it is very aptly suited for wasting, especially in the hands of a capable player. As an AI player, EL KING is extremely aggressive, chasing nearly every car. EL KING is therefore is classed as a Rank 3 Waster and a Bully Car, as it is suicidally aggressive.

In the first Need for Madness, EL KING is a green semi cab. As of the second game, it has become teal, with a small crown (probably for "The King") on the grille plate.

EL KING is arguably one of the best wasters in the game. It is capable of spin cars out, and bashing them as they do so. Coupled with better speed and aerial control than MASHEEN, this formidable waster is something to not mess with lightly, so the player must be on their guard at all times whenever EL KING is in the game. EL KING is also known as the King of Wasting, hence the name.

Strengths and Weaknesses[]

Aside from EL KING's slow speed and acceleration which makes it easy to catch up with, EL KING has a few noticeable weaknesses. A head-on collision will waste most small cars. To get around this, hit it on its sides. EL KING is fairly vulnerable on its sides, taking a disproportionate amount of damage. If you do decide to attack EL KING, your best choices are, by rank:

1. DR Monstaa: DR Monstaa's high strength, high endurance and good speed makes it the best vehicle at wasting EL KING. It can perform the King's Rampage if DR Monstaa's momentum after it crashes against EL KING brings it towards EL KING. However, general wasting strategies work just as well against EL KING due to the fact DR Monstaa has the better overall stats then EL KING, allowing DR. Monstaa to hit EL KING again even after bouncing off it, as well as allowing to finish EL KING off with relative ease even when going for a fixing hoop or retreating.

2. Radical One: What makes Radical One lower then DR Monstaa in terms of wasting it is that Radical One's main strategy of "wasting" revolves it more around of being a catapult then an actual head on attacker. Which means, depending on how much power Radical One has, either means EL KING get's sent flying while taking damage, EL KING gets sent flying but takes no damage from Radical One itself, or EL KING even out right beats Radical One in a head on collision. EL KING itself is next to immune from taking damage from hitting walls after being thrown, so Radical One should be chasing EL KING after EL KING has been throw so it can deal more damage to EL KING when it lands.

Note: Cars ranked lower then 1st and 2nd from here on out means that it's situationally based on how you could be facing EL KING. Meaning that if you decide to waste EL KING as some of these cars, you will have less of a chance at succeeding at wasting EL KING then the 1st and 2nd vehicles can.

3. Sword of Justice/High Rider: Due to how similar both SoJ's (Sword of Justice) and High Rider's main strategy of wasting is so similar [aka King's Rampage] they have been ranked at the same spot, with SoJ having the advantage. The bully cars (which SoJ and High Rider will be referred to from here on out;) Have an advantage in that because of there low knockback on hit, they can get in consecutive hits on the same car and waste them rather quickly once said car has been cornered into a wall.

This tactic can work extremely well against EL KING if the bully cars have enough Power to keep it up as they can hit EL KING from the back or side and essentially "stunlock" it, either wasting EL KING or leaving it at high damage. The downside in the tactic is that if you don't have enough power or EL KING manages to get out of King's Rampage. you can get absorbed into EL KING (wasting you or doing lots of damage to you in the process) or EL KING will straight up retaliate back.

4. Lead Oxide: Lead Oxide is on this list because it would've been the vehicle you'd use in NFM 1 to waste EL KING. While it does have it's similarities to the bully cars; Lead Oxide's strategies are slightly different then the ones above and it's stats make it excel differently in wasting EL KING. Lead Oxide, when compared to the Bully Cars, has better endurance mixed with slightly above average strength and top speed but lacks the Acceleration and stunting prowess as the bully cars have. Against EL KING, Lead Oxide cannot do the King's Rampage as well since it has more knockback on hit when compared to the bully cars. However, Lead Oxide has an advantage that it can output more damage on 1 hit and keep up the pressure over distance while also having enough endurance to handle retaliation against it.

5. M A S H E E N: It may come off as surprising that Masheen is so low on the list but let's keep this in mind. Masheen is much more susceptible to being by wasted by EL KING then any other car in the game thanks to EL KING's high strength stat and better acceleration and speed when compared to it. This isn't including the fact that EL KING can take advantage of how big Masheen is and hit it from the sides or even back. If Masheen wants to waste EL KING, Masheen has to the take the initiative first against EL KING so it can properly waste EL KING, if this isn't done correctly, Masheen may find itself taking a lot of damage and not being able to retaliate back against its oppressor due to how sluggish it is. However, if Masheen is smart on how to tackle fighting EL KING, Masheen will be able to take it out EL KING in a couple of blows with next to no repercussions.

Strategies and Tips[]

EL KING can be used to easily win several stages, but unless you're confident enough, do not try a racing stage. If you do a racing stage with EL KING, do only backflips/frontflips, rollspins and splits (or a combination of them depending on the ramp) for stunts, and do NOT stunts on a Speedbump as you will end up doing a bad landing. Rollspins are advisable due to EL KING's mediocre stunting.

Some offensive techniques with EL KING are:

  • Front-On Collision: This is very effective against smaller cars, but not against strong vehicles like Radical One or MASHEEN. It is also fairly ineffective on Dr Monstaa, unless you are very confident you have enough momentum to catch them off-guard.
    Grandslam

EL KING about to do a front-on collision

Flying Wrecker: Jump off a ramp and hit a car. Your momentum will hit them very hard, possibly wasting them. This doesn't work on Radical One.
  • Spinning Tire Smack: Your back tire is just as powerful as a front-on collision. When you are about to hit a car, press space + right before you hit them. Timing it correctly is the key element in making it work. Do not try this on MASHEEN.
  • King's Rampage: This is another version of the Front-on collision, but it is done when you are low on power. When you hit a car, EL KING will continuously hit them. Keep EL KING straight, with them spinning in front of you until you hit a wall or another car. Radical One and DR Monstaa can also do this quite well.
  • The Dead Car Throw: If your victim is faster, try taking a shortcut and hitting a dead car, which will swerve into the victim and slow them down. Once you can hit them, beat them until they are Wasted.
  • Checkpoint Wreck/Camping: Camp out at a checkpoint and wham into a car when it gets close to you. This is a strategy also used by the AI MASHEEN.
  • Feed The Friend: Throw an enemy away in front of Masheen or DR Monstaa by using the front-on collision. Causes a little damage on Masheen or DR Monstaa.
  • Pika Pikachu: Land on or smash into a car. The crushed car hits another car in a living version of the Dead Car Throw.

Some defensive moves to defend yourself from the King are:

  • The Snake Dance: Move in a zigzag motion and hit the cars on your side.
  • Vertical Spinner: Try to hit a dirt ramp from the side, and if it works you will be vertical and your chaser will rush by.
  • Ramp Getaway: Go on a ramp and veer to the side. Your chaser will likely go the full distance. This is useful because EL KING has bad stunts, and loops and rolls send it nowhere. EL King is a green semi-truck in NFM 1. He is also a teal semi-truck in NFM 2. EL King is the secondary antagonist and the waster of the game.

AI[]

The AI of EL King lends itself towards to racing if the player has not passed the first lap [Aka, if the player wasting] and will frequently take detours to assault other racers or harass the player if the opportunity is shown. However, if the Player is racing and in 1st place, EL KING will begin to do Wrong Lane Driving or race until the player aggro's it. This is more easily seen in the stage Ghosts and Magic where after the player has passed the 2nd Lap, EL KING goes backwards and does Wrong Lane Driving to waste in the stage due to the square-like appearance of the stage. EL KING also likes veering into the sides of cars, as its trademark strategy. The only time it will race is in The Stretch and in the The Gun Run.

Differences[]

In Need For Madness[]

EL KING makes its debut in Stage 5, He Is Coming For You Next where it will attempt to waste you and will use any means to do so. If you avoid EL KING and not aggro it, you can beat the stage by racing. If you attempt to waste the other cars, make sure you focus on wasting EL KING first rather then the other racers. This is due to the fact that in Stage 5, it's rather frequent for the AI to waste themselves on the obstacles and since EL KING takes less damage from said obstacles. Thus, taking out EL KING first should always lead to victory in your favor.

EL KING also appears in the following stage, Paninaro, Caninaro, Let's Fly!. It will drive in the opposite direction and attempt to waste you if you and it cross paths. Keep in mind EL KING will always appear after the Big-Takeoff Ramps on the 2nd Takeoff Ramp of the first lap and after the 1st Takeoff Ramp at the starting line of the 2nd lap. Sometimes Stage 6, there is a glitch. When you leave the race, EL KING will go on the second Giant Ramp and start going in circles. On He Is Coming For You Next the best way to waste is to use Formula 7, go for the rail doorways, choose one and ram into the same one back and forth. When you stop getting damaged, go waste all of the cars, because you will be indestructible. This does not work in Need For Madness 2 or Need For Madness Multiplayer.

Appearance in Need For Madness 2[]

EL KING makes its debut in Stage 7, The Garden of the King. It has the same strategy from He Is Coming For You Next since it's identical to said stage. EL KING next appears in Stage 8, Maximum Overfly. EL KING will not attempt to race here, instead he will camp in the off-road section in the middle of the stage and hunt down the player if he is aggro'd. EL KING will chase you around the track if you aggro him for prolonged period of time and will attempt to waste you by intercepting your turns or after your stunt. EL KING will always appear on Suddenly the King Becomes Santa's Little Helper as M A S H E E N's "little helper" (unless you choose EL KING yourself). EL KING will work with M A S H E E N and DR Monstaa to waste you.

Trivia[]

  • The "EL" in EL KING's name is Spanish for "the". In full Spanish, the car's name would be "EL REY".
  • EL KING has the most stages that relate to or reference it in the second Need for Madness, which stages 7, 8, 9, and 12 do. (the latter to a lesser extent).
  • EL KING is the boss of both of the "flying" tracks Paninaro, Caninaro, Let's Fly! and Maximum Overfly despite the fact that it has poor stunting capabilities.
  • EL KING has a royal theme in Need For Madness 2, primarily Adrenochrome, in Stage 9.
  • EL KING's looks varied only slightly from Need For Madness's prequel Maniac Racers' Bad Boy. They both share the same color and look like the same thing, only Bad Boy has a special mark on its back.
  • EL King is green in Need For Madness. In Need For Madness 2, it was changed to teal.
  • In Need For Madness 2, EL KING has a small crown on its grill plate.
  • Of all the Big 3, EL KING is the second weakest (tied with DR Monstaa), and has the smallest wheels.
  • EL KING on Need For Madness Multiplayer offline mode does Wrong Lane Driving. On Stage 8 he goes backward. However, if EL KING is hit, he will not follow the player. He also does this in Stage 9, where it goes backward with MASHEEN, and they will start fighting each other. If the player Provokes them, they will start going for the player and stop fighting each other.
  • EL KING has the shortest name (second to Nimi) in the Need for Madness series, with 6 letters.
  • EL KING visually resembles a Freightliner M2 truck.
  • El KING was the slowest car but also the strongest car tied with DR Monstaa in NFM1
